Our holiday in paradise ends

We packed our bags and headed over to Bailey's for breakfast. We each ordered a ham, cheese and tomato croissant for $5.50 each.

We wanted to drive down town and buy a few items before the courtesy bus would take us back to the airport. Food for lunch was needed plus we also needed to re-fill our hire car with petrol. Petrol at the bowser was $2.64 AUD per litre and to re-fill our tank it cost the grand sum of only $60.80. We have driven everywhere on this island for a week so we thought $60.80 wasn't too bad at all.

A visit to the shops was needed to buy some salad rolls for lunch which we would eat at the airport. Ian was quite convinced the airport wouldn't be big enough to have food sales. We said out farewells to Vonnie and Desleigh who had kindly, along with Leonie, spent time taking us on our forest walk. We then drove the short distance back to the resort.

The arrangement with the hire car company is that we were to re-fill the tank and leave the car in the hotel car park and they would collect it and that worked well. With that job done we popped into hotel reception and paid our account.

The courtesy bus was on time and we were soon back at the island's little airport. We discovered there was a small cafe there. I saw sandwiches for $6 AUD per round plus a small range of cakes and chocolates. We wondered how much food wastage there was at this cafe. Probably as soon as the plane had left a lot food would have to be thrown out.

Our flight from Norfolk to Sydney was great. We found a shuttle bus at Sydney international airport that would take us to the domestic terminal for $5.50 each so that worked well. After that we had a long wait in the domestic terminal until we were able to book our baggage back in for our flight back to Perth. The flight back to Perth also went well and then we drove back home to Bunbury feeling totally pooped by the time we got home. The day, for us, had been extremely long. We had been awake for 21 hours. We were so tired we didn't even make ourselves our proper cup of tea in our proper big mugs which is the usual tradition for us immediately we get home from a holiday. We just crashed into our beds and fell asleep.

To say Norfolk Island impressed us is an under statement. It really was an outstanding holiday in every way. We spoke to other holiday makers there who had gone on different tours to us and they all said how impressed they were with their tours. We never encountered any tourists who didn't like their accommodation. Every local we spoke to was kindly and helpful. The food we ate was delicious. There was masses to do and see. What more could a person want of any holiday. We encourage everyone to go there.

THE END
