Travel Facts Relating To Our Train Holiday In Australia

We begin our train journey in Darwin and end it in Adelaide.  What is in between the two?

		We've received some great brochures posted to us from the tourist offices in both Darwin and Adelaide.  You will find their contact details here Tourist Information Offices.  We only have a couple of days in both these cities so we'll have to make the most of them.  We only  have a couple of hours at stops in towns on the actual train journey so again we'll have to be organised and know what we want to see before we get there.

		We've done a lot of research into the history of each place we stop at plus we've looked around for things to do in each town.  You can check out this information at the links we've included close to the top of this page. There really is a lot to see and, unfortunately,  we won't be able to manage to visit everything. We know we definitely want to hand-feed the fish in Darwin and we want to go to Glenelg on the tram in Adelaide. Everything else will be a bonus.

Nikki the travel agent rang yesterday to say our Ghan train tickets are ready at last. We've been getting slightly concerned about them.  Nikki has had the plane tickets for a couple of weeks but somehow there was a delay with the train tickets.  Anyway we shall have them in our hot little hands later today.

....... we now have the tickets.  E-tickets are new to us.  The last time we went on a plane you got a "proper" plane ticket not a piece of paper that looks like it came out of a packing box.  The tickets for The Ghan are sheets of A4 paper too although they are at least a bit more decorative than the plane tickets.
