A change in the St Petersburg weather
First job for us this morning was to buy some water. We had very little left at all. We stepped outside the hostel to find it was raining lightly.
St Petersburg is a very wet city. We were told that there are usually only about 35 dry sunny days each year. We went to the little deli just near the hostel and bought the water. We didn't bother about breakfast at the hostel as we were planning on fast food.
We caught the #11 tram down Nevsky Prospekt. The rain started to get heavier. We wanted to hop of the tram as close as possible to McDonald's as we thought we would get a hamburger and coffee for breakfast plus we could kill a bit of time there as well. People on the boat tour had told us the toilets were clean in McDonald's too.

Yeliseev Building
Another unusual buildingWe only just spotted McDonald's in time through the steamed up tram windows. As we raced inside the cafe the rain got even heavier and then we were treated to a thunder storm.
I think we stayed in there for at least an hour. The rain began to ease so off we set having a leisurely wander around some of the back streets and back to Nevsky again.

City Bus Tour
Time to hop on the City Bus
The building in St Petersburg really are something special. Nevsky Prospekt really impressed us. There is a web site here that identifies all the buildings in the street, see Nevsky Prospekt . We could have wandered the streets for hours but we knew we wanted to get on the City Bus Tour and see a little bit further out.
